Random Thoughts About Running and Red Velvet Cake

There isn’t much to report about my running because I haven’t been running.  I really screwed up my knee the last time I ran.  I don’t know if it my shoes were too old or if I pushed myself too hard trying to run too much too soon.  Either way, it resulted in me taking a break from the little running I started until my knee feels better, particularly my t-bands.

Over the past three weeks, I’ve done a lot of sulking about not running and not losing any weight.   I know I only had a baby 3 months ago, and they say 9 months up and 9 months down, but seriouslyGive me half a pound or something!  I’ve been so good I deserve to see the scale tip to a lower digit.  C’mon already!

Well, I was doing really well until Halloween and Allana’s birthday rolled around.  We celebrated her birthday with three different cakes on three different days: one Cold Stone Red Velvet Ice Cream Cake, one chocolate cookie cake and an Archer Farms Red Velvet cake.  Three cakes and two pounds gained.  Great.

I was really hoping to lose at least ten pounds by Christmas.  It looks like the only way I’ll lose ten pounds by Christmas is by throwing ten pounds of red velvet cake and Halloween candy into the trash.

***Proudly submitted at The Un Mom’s Random Thoughts Tuesday, because when I blog about my runs, it’s usually pretty random.***

I know how you feel, I haven’t been working out like I planned and it’s mostly because my job ramped up, I’m working late, staying up too late, getting up too late. Sigh! I also had a baby 3 months ago and my weight has stagnated.

Maybe you could do yoga while your knee heals. It will help stretch out your muscles and maybe even help flex the knee so it heals faster.

The fact that you DID just have a baby 3 months ago (is he seriously already 3 months old?????) and have already been running is reason to be happy even if you gained a couple pounds during some birthday celebrations! I’ve seen your pics, you are beautiful! Don’t give up, just do what I did and toss that candy out!
I hope your knee feels better soon!

    I totally hear you!

Except I am supposed to be gaining weight because I am pregnant. But I don’t want to gain excessive amounts because I know I am going to have to lose it later! I have too much Halloween candy hanging around, which is too easy to snack on!

I love red velvet cake. LOVE. I must really love my baby because I gave it up for her. Your photo of the cake made me want to eat my monitor.
As for your IT Band….I’m late to the party and new to your blog, but have you tried rolling them?
You know those pool noodles? Lay on one sideways, roll from your hip to your ankle. Should hurt like holy canoli from mid hip to calf. This is a GREAT way to work out IT Band problems 😉
