It’s Nice to Be Alive

In true DMT style, I dragged my family all over NYC to see and do as much as we could in a week.  There are a ton of photos and stories to share but I’m still weeding through the thousands of photos.  A blog post or two is in the works.

While in NYC, I attended to BlogHer, the sole reason behind our road trip. I met so many remarkable people and experienced all the wonderful connections one hopes to make when attending a blogging conference.  I still have to write a post about all the fun I had.

Then, my family and I survived another two day road trip from NYC back home to Florida even after my youngest daughter puked two hours into the ride and we still had 19 hours left to go.  I could lie and tell you the best part of a road trip were all the car games but honestly the best part of our expedition was stopping in Savannah and eating at Zunzi’s.

It’s been another very busy active summer with my kids, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.  There’s only one week left of summer vacation to enjoy as school starts next Monday, so we’ll have to make the most of our last few summer days together.  I see a beach day and a few pool days in our future, especially since my 7 year old and my 2 year old conquered swimming this summer.

However, what I’d really like to celebrate today is the fact that I competed in a triathlon on Saturday and lived to tell about it.  It’s been almost 4 years since my last triathlon and I survived it without drowning or falling off my bike and beat my time by 23 minutes.  (You can read my recap here.)  It felt good to compete in a triathlon again and to be over my fear of riding a bike.  It was a huge hurdle for me.

It’s been a summer full of fun, feel good, first time, get over yourself stuff and that feels great.
