Pinning and Planning Our Dinner Menu – Week of December 14

This week marks the last week before Winter Break. Although school will be winding down in time for the holidays, this will probably be my busiest week of the season. Aside from my kids’ school Christmas parties and a preschool Christmas concert, I also have three blogging functions this week as well as carving out time to celebrate our wedding anniversary and finish off the last bits of Christmas shopping.

Once I survive this week, I’ll be ready for a long winter’s nap.

Sunday, I ran the Holiday Halfathon and like so many other half marathons, I craved wings after my race. Iron Chef Allan whipped up a batch of his famous Grilled Buffalo Wings which paired so nicely with a Samuel Adams Winter Lager. It definitely hit the spot!

Allan and I are really enjoying the assortment of winter ales in our Craft Beer Advent Calendar. Whereas Allan loves Rogue Santa’s Private Reserve, my favorite beers so far have been the Jolly Traveler Winter Shandy, Two Brothers Peppermint Bark Porter, Anchor Christmas Ale, and the Flying Fish Grand Gru Winter Reserve.

I can’t wait to try the other Christmas craft beers! Hopefully, this week’s meals will pair nicely with them.

Here’s our dinner menu for the week:

Sunday – Grilled Buffalo Wings with Roasted Fingerling Potatoes and Low Fat Classic Coleslaw

Meatless Monday – (A family Christmas picnic under our Christmas tree) – Bella Burgers and Asian-Style Broccoli Slaw

Tuesday – Chicken Sausage and Bean Stew and a mixed greens salad

Wednesday –  Brinner (Breakfast for Dinner) Veggie Skillets

Thursday – Anniversary Dinner at Ulele

Friday – (Dinner and a Show) Columbia Restaurant and followed by Phantom of the Opera at the Straz

How are you surviving t Pinning and Planning Run DMThe holiday season? Have you tried any of the winter lagers or Christmas ales yet?

What’s on your dinner menu this week? What interesting recipes are you pinning and planning?

The Christmas picnic is something my kids concocted a few years ago and we had such a great doing it, it’s something we plan every Christmas now. I actually made reservations for Ulele ages ago because I was worried it would be mobbed for the holidays and yes, it will be our first time there. I can’t wait! I’ve heard such great things about it!
