Pinning and Planning Our Christmas Dinner Menu – Week of December 21

I cannot believe Christmas is nearly here! I know I keep asking it, but seriously where did the year go? The year seemed to fly by. It felt like only yesterday that I shared My Summer To Do List.

Allan and I still have so much to do to prepare for our Christmas Extravaganza. Thankfully, the shopping is finished and the menu is planned, but our entire house needs a thorough cleaning and all the presents still need to be wrapped. Allan and I have some long nights ahead of us to get it all done while still entertaining the kids.

We also haven’t taken our photos for our Christmas cards yet. Hopefully, we can squeeze them in before Christmas. If not, I guess they will be New Year cards. Or maybe I can throw together some random snapshots of my kids into Christmas card collage. I’m honestly not going to stress about photos, because it seems we receive less and less Christmas cards every year.

Is Facebook the reason for that? Is Facebook, emails and social media stripping away the Christmas card tradition?

Every year, Allan and I plan a Christmas Tea for our kids. It’s our little Christmas tradition and our kids adore the fancy family time we spend nibbling on little sandwiches. We dress up, snack on finger foods and sip gingerbread tea. Since our Christmas Tea is typically a vegetarian menu, it works well to plan it for Meatless Monday.

Below is our dinner menu for the week as well as our multiple Christmas dinner menus and our Boxing Day Breakfast, which is another of our Run DMT family traditions.  For that, Iron Chef Allan will prepare a huge cooked English breakfast, a traditional, “sweaty” breakfast (as he calls it) while the kids and I box up items to donate to charity. He can read more about our Boxing Day tradition here. Christmas Eve will be an usual Italian feast and Christmas Day will be a traditional Christmas dinner with turkey and lamb.

Like I said, at least the Christmas menus and the dinner menu for the week are planned which is one less thing to worry about.

Merry Christmas to you and your family. I am not sending carsd this year because it’s 85c just in Canada! to send cards. I can afford gifts but not gifts and cards! I may hand deliver some. I did send one to my cousin who is posted outside the continent.
