SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular: A Teen’s Perspective

The following is a guest post by my soon to be thirteen year old daughter, Allana, who graciously volunteered to write a review after SeaWorld offered our family tickets to experience SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular.

As a preteen, Allana offers a unique perspective for her review. Essentially, she is caught between two distinct Halloween worlds: events that are too frightening or events designed for a younger audience. Since all three of our children love dressing up and trick-or-treating, SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular still works for the wide range of ages of our three children (13, 9 and 4).

As we entered the gates of the SeaWorld Blogger entrance for SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular, our greeter gave each of us Halloween Smencils that smelt great and were ADORABLE!

My siblings and I were all dressed up, so we immediately headed toward the Waves of Trick-or-Treat Fun. As my mom took photos, bubbles blanketed us. I noticed that they were coming from a Pumpkin Fishes mouth to shower us with bubbles.

Next we moved forward with a mission: GET THE CANDY. The first station was Lemonheads, not my favorite, but free candy is free candy! Soon we discovered the cookie decorating stand. As we decorated our sugar cookies with jellybeans and icing, I nicked a few pieces of candy and ate them. When we finally finished decorating, I couldn’t resist taking a big bite of my cookie creation.

After collecting more candy, we passed a patch of Pumpkin Fish. Soon we arrived at a covered area played party music. Since I love crafts instead of hula hooping, I dove into the pumpkin foam crafts. I also loved that the shade Penelope’s Party Zone provided.

As we made our way to the Happy Harbor we stopped (twice) at the Hershey Chocolate stand. Both times I noticed that one of the candies they were passing out had *gulp* ALMONDS.

 DUM! DUM! DUMMMM!

I have a very serious tree nut allergy, so finding almonds in candy is NOT good. I believe Sea World should offer other candy options just in case someone with a food allergy comes along.  When our family visited SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular in previous years, they handed out raisins or mini bananas. My mom liked the healthy options, but of course, she would as a mother runner and all.

The rest of the day we had absolutely no allergy incidences and had a pretty great time, especially when my mom and I rode Kraken and Manta, our favorite roller coaster.
