Disclaimer: I received a media rate for a one night stay at the Bohemian Hotel Celebration in exchange for my honest review. All opinions shared are my own.
As races go, I typically try to stay close to home and avoid any added expenses. This year, I decided to venture out of my cheap comfort zone by experiencing new-to-me races outside of the Tampa Bay area. These destination races would offer an opportunity for small weekend getaways for my family, my girlfriends and me around these races, cleverly called “racecations”.
With the Celebration Half Marathon as my first destination for a racecation, I set my sights on the picturesque Bohemian Hotel in the heart of Celebration. Tucked in corner of the town center, the Bohemian Hotel creates a beautiful backdrop with its lakeside view.
Unique décor rich in Florida heritage and artistry fills the Bohemian Hotel lobby offering a one-of-a-kind experience. Original wood carvings along with other unusual pieces such as stuffed Florida creatures transforms the lobby into a historical Florida museum.
The hotel also features a Grand Bohemian Gallery which showcases more than 75 works of art by local, regional and internationally recognized artists.
As the name states, our second floor Standard Town View Room overlooked Bloom Street. A chaise lounge chair seated underneath the two large corner picture windows provided my children an opportunity to people watch.
Given the postcard view and brilliance of the lobby, we found the stand room to be a little lackluster and uninspiring. Although there was a desk for a busy travel runner blogger, wifi and an Internet connection was an added fee. The room lacked a mini-fridge, another staple and accommodation necessary for a runner mother blogger. Thankfully, since the race was only a few short steps from the hotel, I could make do without cold drinks.
Signs advertising a nightly Happy Hour intrigued me; however, we were only in the hotel for a short time and therefore, I could not partake and enjoy all the wonderful leisure activities.
I look forward to exploring the Bohemian Hotel Celebration more on my next racecation to Celebration.
