Spring Portraits

Last winter when I should have been planning outfits and penciling in a date for Christmas portraits, I couldn’t seem to squeeze in the time between Christmas shopping, running races and sick kids. No family Christmas portraits meant there would be no photo for a Christmas card and therefore, no Christmas cards.

As sad as it made me to not have a family photo last winter, for sanity sake, I learned to simply let it go among the Christmas chaos. However, with a little more planning and A LOT more time to make it work, I planned spring portraits for my family.

For time sake, we planned a portrait sitting on a Saturday evening in Downtown Tampa. While I wanted the Riverfront and Ulele as our backdrop, there was an event happening at Waterfront Park. University of Tampa was my second choice.

If I may brag for a bit, I’m quite proud of the color combinations and my photography skills. These photos are straight out of the camera (SOTC) of my Cannon EOS Rebel XS set to manual f/stop 5.6, 1/125 and ISO 800 with no editing. Sure, the photos could do with a little cropping, photoshopping, tweeking and sharpening or the hues could be brighter, richer and the levels could be lifted…

…but sometimes photos are lovely just as is.

I always feel some pressure around Christmas to get photos done, with all the other holiday hubbab happenings…so I am loving the idea of Spring snaps. Beautiful family, Denise!

Thank you, sweetie! Christmas is so stressful, isn’t it? It feels like I finally can breathe after the holidays.
