“It’s a boy,” the ultrasound technician stated so matter-of-factly. She said it so casually that the news didn’t register at first.
“I’m sorry. What did you say?” I asked.
“It’s a boy. You’re having a boy and he’s hung like a horse!”
“A boy?!” I looked at Allan in disbelief. Tears flooded my eyes. I never entertained the idea of a son. I just assumed our odds favored another girl.
Once the unsuspected and strange sound “boy” sank in, I realized I need to relearn how to diaper a baby so I don’t get sprayed in the face. Long lists of all new baby items filled my head. He’ll need new bedding and onesies that aren’t pink.
As I stared in amazement at the hazy black and white screen, I counted ten tiny toes and fingers.
I spotted lovely long legs, a spine, a beautiful big brain and a heartbreaker heart.
And like a typical guy, he proudly showed off his family jewels and gave us a ticket to the gun show.
Although Allan and I are still in disbelief that we made a little boy, we are simply tickled pink blue by the news.

Congrats!!!
Congratulations!
Okay, though, what kind of tech remarks at the… um… size? Seriously!
Congratulations! We’re also having a boy; for some reason, I carry around a scan photo of his scrotum to proudly show family members and friends! Funny how uncomfortable they get!!
You might enjoy my blog if you want to know how your partner is feeling during your pregnancy!

Aww HOW Exciting!! WE love boys here In fact we have 3 of them!! There is no amount to anticipation that can prepare you for NOT getting sprayed. ha ha. They do make these little pee pee t-P’s out that you can cover tinky winky up though.
You look wonderful. Congratulations on your blue bundle of joy. Now you have to think of a name for your little man.
Congrats!! I am so excited for you! And isn’t it just funny how boys so proudly display their package?? I still have to watch my 4 yr old with that thing! 😉
Congratulations! I’m not sure how I would have reacted to that news either. 🙂 You look fantastic by the way…..you don’t even look preggers!
Congrats; I’m tickled blue for you, too!!!
Yay!!! I’m so happy for you all!! I sometimes wonder if we tried again whether we’d make a boy… but I don’t wonder *enough* to actually go for it. Haha! Maybe one day. I’m still young 🙂
Yay Yay Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ll tell you what my doctor said who has both sexes… “You are growing your very own best friend” and it is so true! Little girls tend to have their daddy’s hearts.. but little boys have their mamas!
So… you will definitely need A&D Ointment if you plan on a circumcision. That is the only real advice I can give you on “diapering”. LOL! Other than pull up a little more in the front. 🙂
congrats again! lol about the peeing/diaper change comment – i think my cousin had a little “pee pee tent” thing for her son… i can’t remember it’s ‘technical term’ though. i can never see babies in ultrasounds – i am assuming it’s because i have not been a mom!
When they told me I was having a girl the first time I asked, “Is that because you don’t see certain stuff?” and the tech said, “On the contrary. I see lots of stuff. See those 2 white lines? That’s labia.”
OOOOH. Didn’t know you could see that…
Yay!!!!! So happy it is a boy! They are really so much fun!
That is just so cool to have a boy on the way!! Awesomeness!
Yeah for boys! I never had one only girls and I wish now I had! You’ll have lots to blog about in the future can’t wait to read what happens. I know he will be a beautiful addition to your family.
Congratulations! How exciting is that?!
