I’ve spent months to physically prepare for Iron Girl Triathlon Clermont. Now, it’s time to mentally prepare. For me that means packing items that I will need for race day. Obviously, for a triathlon, you need your bike, your helmet, goggles, but there are other essential items you need that you don’t want to forget. In this week’s vlog, I share some of my essentials.
Triathlon checklist
- Tri kit
- Chip
- Race bibs
- Bike
- Helmet
- Flip-flops
- Race bag
- Swim cap
- Goggles
- Towel
- Running shoes
- Cycling shoes
- Socks
- I.D.
- Cash
- Gu
- Garmin/Polar
- Cell phone
- Lip balm
- Car keys
- Change of clothes
- Ibuprofen
- Body glide
- Sunblock
- Water bottle
- Post race snacks
Once you arrive in transition, rack your bike and lay out your items neatly to prepare for smooth transitions. Some triathletes will also pack a bike pump or a patch kit, but at the bigger races like Iron Girl, you will find a Bike Tech on site to offer mechanical support for triathletes for free.
Many triathlons, like Iron Girl, will provide a swim cap for a seeded wave entry for the swim. Pack a swim cap for open water swims just in case.
Headphones and MP3 players are not permitted on the course, so be prepared to run and ride without music.
I hope this list helped you. If you have any questions, leave a comment and I’ll try my best to answer it. Good luck to all the Iron Girl Clermont ladies competing on September 29! But whatever you do, don’t be this chick!
Glad to see you included a Polar on the list 🙂
Whoop whoop! Polar!!! 😉 You rock!
