Hugs and Kisses to Our Beaches

30 Things I Vow to Do This Summer

#1 – Soak up every ounce of our beautiful white beaches Gulf before the oil arrives.

Check.

I’ve mentioned many times before about my love for our Gulf beaches and this weekend I was truly grateful to soak up every ounce of salt water and sand once again.

Using their bug catchers, the girls made a mini aquariums and filled them with sand fleas and clams they found in the muddy shores.  Allana loved observing the tiny creatures swim around and stretch out their siphon tubes as they adjusted to their temporary home.

Even though we’ve been home for a few days, I told my husband that I want to go back to hug and kiss the beach again before the oil arrives.

I know the oil is coming soon and our beautiful beach days are on borrowed time.

Gorgeous. Lucky you to live near those pristine (for now) beaches! I’d want to go back, too! Oh, and sand fleas? Just the thought of a flea makes me itchy!

    Amaaaaaazing pictures. Really stunning.

Makes the whole tragedy a little more tragic too, that such beauty is on (as you say) borrowed time.

The beach is my heaven on earth ~ I am so heartbroken for the animals that will be affected by this horrible spill ~ the whole thing is heartbreaking! ugh! Such a blessing to build memories there!!

I am so sad for the golf beaches. The most amazing beach I have ever stood on was on the gulf, the sand felt like SILK, it was so different from Atlantic Coast sand…just beautiful.

Oh lovely photos, you guys looked like you had so much fun! I will be going home to Pensacola later this month and the girls and I have our fingers crossed that there will be white beaches to run our toes in. Happy WW!

Beautiful pictures. Sigh. It makes me so sad to even think of it. I hope you have many more days of beach time before the horror hits. 🙁

So gorgeous! I’ve never been to the gulf coast of FL, just the Atlantic side. I hope to visit soon. Hubs spent some time in Pensacola before we were married. He love it!

Enjoy it. I hope the damage won’t be too bad. It’s so sad that it’s happened at all.

Great photos Denise! It’s so sad that those beautiful, pristine beaches will soon be tarnished with oily sludge. The things we’ve done to our planet…
Thanks for stopping by and linking up again this week. How much longer til we get to meet baby?

The Gulf is such a beautiful place. I loved visiting “the other side” this summer but really there is nothing like the beauty the Gulf beholds. I am saddened by the oil.
Your pictures are wonderful and it looks like you all had a wonderful time!

Enjoy them while you can. It is such a shame how many beaches we are losing. My daughter is in college and is spending her summer break to come down and clean animals caught in the spill.

i am glad you were the comment before me bc i can totally relate to this post. i live on the gulf in florida and we’re down at the beach right now soaking it up as much as we can before the oil hits. already had to deal with some tarballs. it’s so sad….i’ve grown up on these beaches and i was hoping that one day my kiddos would be able to say the same thing.
