I’ve been a training slump lately. I made all these Labor Day promises to get back in the pool and to ride my bike but I’ve not done a single thing. Well that’s not entirely true. I did run a decent 10K last week.
6.2 miles
Time 1:00
Ave Pace 9:41
Max Pace 7:06
And that was it. No longer run on Saturday or make-up longer run on Sunday. No brick work. No Monday Morning easy run and no Track Tuesday speedwork.
Just call me Slump DMT.
I blame the training slump on my allergies. I’ve been wheezing, experiencing vertigo, heartburn and now a sore throat. I can’t take it anymore and plan to visit my allergist soon before Florida fall oak pollen season arrives. I can’t afford to be sick every month.
I also can’t afford to be slacking off this September! I have two back to back races in 26 days. I seriously need to get back to swimming or I will drown at Iron Girl Clermont. And if I don’t get back on my bike or back to spin class soon, I will be killed by those Clermont hills.
But one day before Iron Girl Clermont, my girls and will be running the Girl Scout Thin Mint Sprint 5K on September 28 in Safety Harbor.
My own Thin Mint Tagalong-loving Girl Scouts and I are really excited to be part of the Thin Mint Sprint 5K because the proceeds benefit the Girl Scouts. So, my little Girl Scouts and I are giving back to a great foundation with so many wonderful principals at its Girl Scout core. An organization that cares about its country and community and we can show our appreciation by running our little Samoas off.
As for the Thin Mint Sprint 5K, all participants in the 5K and the Tagalong Trot 1 mile race will receive medals and the top finishers will receive certificates. Even virtual race participants will receive a bib and a race shirt. As an added tasty bonus, the top 50 male and top 50 female finishers of the 5k will receive a box of Girl Scout Cookies, compliments of FITniche! Now, that is MINT and I hope I’m one of them!
If you would like to join my girls and I at the Thin Mint Sprint 5K or the Tagalong Trot, register here.
Look for me. I’ll be the one in the green tutu.
My allergies are always worse in the fall than the spring. I feel your sinus pain! Feel better soon!
Some days are better than others. In teh summer, weed and grass bother me. The fall, the oak bothers me. In the spring, the cypress trees kill me. When it all happens at once, then I feel like I’m going to die.
