I am a Twit

The powers that be in the mommy blogging community proclaimed anyone truly serious about blogging must be on Twitter.   So, with much reluctance, I followed the masses to Twitter, like a bird following its flock.  This proud little Twitter built a nest for herself there but shortly suffered from empty nest syndrome longing for more followers.  I tweet and twirl, but is anyone really hearing my calls reading my updates?

I’ve been part of other social networks (Meetup, MySpace, Facebook, etc). I understand the benefits of bulletins, networking and collecting friends, but this Twitter nonsense has me very confused.   When I visit Twitter, I often feel like a nerdy wallflower watching the cool kids converse while yearning for others to notice me follow me.  If everyone jumped off a bridge with their laptops to join a social network, would I do it too?

Since joining the community, I frequently wonder why I am a twit on Twitter.   Twitter conspiracies fill my head.  Is Twitter simply an Internet experiment to see if Algernon can find his way through the maze?

Sorry, Twitter, but I believe it may be time for me to choose the red pill and unplug from the Matrix.

Oooooo — look at all of your allusions today!!!!

Yeah, I’m still not sold on Twitter. I update about once/twice a week and that’s it. I have 7 direct messages. 7. I’m one of the un-cool kids too.

LOL looks like we gave our twitter posts the exact same title! But then again, what else can you say other than ‘I am a twit’. I’m a tweet-y bird? Not sure that I get the whole dealy-wheel, but we’ll see where it goes.
