My Lovely Lazy Lump

Since it poured here all day Saturday, Tiffany and I were not in the mood for a soggy run with the Striders at Starkey Park.  Although we skipped out on the rainy day run, we faced frigid weather for Sunday’s run because at 6 a.m., it was a frosty 38 degrees.  Thankfully, I recently bought a pair of dollar knit gloves at Target for just these frosty, cold snap Florida mornings.

However, I’ve been so lazy and completely slacking on my miles.  With little sleep, I’m still finding it hard to get out of the bed in the morning and Sunday was the first time I ran all week.  Tiffany hadn’t run much since Thanksgiving either.  We hoped to do 10-12 miles, but barely made it to 7 miles and it was slow getting to 7 miles at that!

This Sunday, we have the Holiday Halfathon and I’m really dreading it for several reasons.  Firstly, the weather has been so unpredictable.  As of now, it will be about 64 degrees early Sunday morning with a high of 79 degrees.  But, the forecast also predicts a 30% chance of rain on Sunday and a 40% chance of rain on Monday, which all depends on how slow or quickly the cold front rolls through by then.  And with all the crazy weather, I simply don’t know what to wear!  Oh the horror!

Secondly, I haven’t been training as much as I should in order to be truly prepared for the race.  I had all good intentions to run this morning.  I even laid out my clothes, but this stupid lack of sleep thing is really ruining it for me.  I guess I have a lot on mind which is preventing me from getting a good night’s sleep.  Funny thing, exercise is such a great way to relieve stress so it’s a pity that I can’t seem to swing it!  My friend, Nicole, suggested I try changing my routine and run in the evening which sounds like a great plan.  Now, if only I could get my lazy lump off the couch to try that out!

Does this mean that you will run in the evenings with me now, despite your previous disdain for non-morning runs?

    🙂

c’mon denise. get up and run in the evening! it’s not so bad. i have been having trouble sleeping through the night (and therefore getting up with my workout-alarm) so… i am forever working out at night.

hope the weather looks better by this weekend for you. i know here it’s supposed to be in the single digits tomorrow with the wind chill. you’re jealous, i know 😉
