Saucony sent me a beautiful and technical pair of running shoes: Virrata. Being the girlie stunner I am, I absolutely loved the color, but as any runner knows, it’s not about the color. It’s about the comfort and these Saucony Virrata running shoes are beautifully bright, lightweight and comfortable!
I wore the Virrata shoes to the Junior Gasparilla to break the shoes in before my first run in them. At first, I found the arch a little odd because it added a little more lift than my usual Brooks Trance running shoes. However, my feet quickly adjusted to the arch lift. I also normally wear a wide, but the Virrata toe box offered enough space which didn’t cause any toes pain or pinch my bunions.
For my first run in my new Saucony Virrata running shoes, I wore them to my speedwork session last Tuesday. I really loved the lightweight and flexibility of the shoes, which is perfect for sprints and like the Virrata specifications promise, it allowed my foot to move naturally.
The specifications also tout the Virrata as being “a feather-light, ultra flexible show with advanced cushioning that promotes a powerful stride”. Furthermore, the Virrata are “engineered to engage and activate a runner’s own natural cushioning, stabilization and stride,” which is a perfect design for sprints…
…and obviously, jumping.
After training 1000 of miles for five marathons, I’ve become accustomed to heavy cushioned shoes and the additional weight on my feet for that added cushion. After wearing the feather-light Virrata a few times, my long distance running shoes feel so heavy!
I always been fan of Saucony running shoes and I really do love these Virrata running shoes for sprints and short distances, but this first release Virrata shoe is a bit narrow for my widespread plantar fasciitis bunion ridden feet. If the shoe came in a wide, I would definitely wear them for longer runs.
If you have dainty, skinny, no problem feet, then these Saucony Virrata running shoes are perfect for you. If neon isn’t your thing, the Saucony Virrata also come in a variety of colors and are available for men in neon and non-neon colors as well.
*I received these Saucony Virrata shoes as a FitFluential Ambassador. The opinions shared in this review are my own.*
They remind me of the Brooks Pure line, cute colors!
Thanks for the honest review!! I love the orange ones 🙂 Perhaps I will look into these for track workouts.
How fun that you received these. I need to purchase some lighter runs for speedier days. I’m eying the Brooke PureConnect line.
