For September 11, the family and I had a quiet Sunday to reflect on the tragic events that occurred fifteen years ago. We watched the NBC broadcast as the events unfolded on that fateful day. To my kids, it may be history but for me, it’s a day that can never be forgotten with the images and the emotions still too real.
The terrorists could crumble our buildings but could not crumble our American spirit and pride. We stood together to love our country and every man and woman of every nationality. On 9/11, all American lives mattered. It was all that mattered. Every September 11, I will hold my family tight and remember.
Earlier this year, my family stumbled upon a 9/11 Memorial in Ybor City, a Historic Cuban District in Tampa. We rode the trolley from Downtown Tampa and at the end of the tracks, we found this incredible tribute to the lives lost on September 11.
With two large reflecting pools in the foreground symbolizing the Twin Towers, the memorial pays tribute to the lives lost, the first responders and the citizens who sacrificed themselves to help others.
It seems my family are always stumbling upon 9/11 Memorials around Tampa Bay. A few years back, we discovered another 9/11 tribute entitles “343” in Oldsmar. Read about this memorial here.
A few summers ago, my family and I visited the 9/11 Memorial at in New York City. You can revisit our experience here.
I hope you spent the Sunday with loved ones and took a moment to reflect on one of the most tragic days in U.S. history and prayed for the families touched by that fateful day and the many the lives lost.
God bless America.
Never forget.
