A Precious Preschool Graduation

Last Friday, Emmalynn graduated from preschool.  Nine months of preschool have passed in a blink of an eye.

Emmalynn has grown and matured so much this year.  It’s hard to believe my little monkey managed to sit quietly in circle time and not swing from the ceiling and somehow she learned to read and write too.

I remember a similar bittersweet feeling when Allana left preschool four years ago.

Miss Sharon and Miss Barbara offered me words of comfort when they promised to still be there when Baby Run DMT #3 starts preschool in 4 years.

I really hope so.

I Heart Faces: Yellow

I heart the color yellow because it is such a warm, inviting color.  In every home I have lived in, there has always been a yellow room to warmly welcome everyone who passed through the door.  Like sunbeams gleaming through a window, shades of yellow always greet you with a sunny smile.

As I searched for photo a for this week’s I Heart Faces Yellow Challenge, so many wonderful warm, sunny yellow moments came to mind.  Emmalynn and Allana twirling in a yellow princess gown pretending to be Belle or Allana tap dancing to Happy Feet at her first recital or yellow handprint duck paintings at a spring play date.

But since yellow is such a sunny, warm color that also makes me think of warm, sunny summer days at the beach, I decided to submit this photo of Allana for the challenge.  Much like the sun and the color yellow, this photo warms me all over.

Musical Monday: Yellow

When I learned of I Heart Faces Yellow Photo Challenge, I’ve had Coldplay’s Yellow in my head for nearly a week.  Since I will be entering a photo of Allana for the yellow challenge, the lyrics couldn’t be more relevant.

Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
And everything you do,
Yeah they were all yellow,
I came along
I wrote a song for you
And all the things you do
And it was called yellow

So then I took my turn
Oh all the things I’ve done
And it was all yellow

Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
D’you know you know I love you so
You know I love you so

I swam across
I jumped across for you
Oh all the things you do
Cause you were all yellow

I drew a line
I drew a line for you
Oh what a thing to do
And it was all yellow

Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
D’you know for you i bleed myself dry
For you i bleed myself dry

Its true look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine
Look at the stars look how they shine for you.

While searching for a yellow photo for the challenge, I found an old recital photo of Allana at 3 1/2. The stars really do shine for my little sunshine. Her skin and bones turned into something beautiful. I love her so.

Stop by later to see the actual photo I submit for I Heart Faces.

Two Weeks Until the Juneathon

Tuesday, June 1 starts the Fourth Annual Juneathon and Run DMT is participating again this year. To join in the Juneathon, participants promise to commit to exercising every day during the month of June.

For me, the timing couldn’t be better.  Last week, I whined about explained how my wogging days have come to an end and how I’ve had to find ways to help reduce my lower back pain.  This annoying pain in the back forced me to replace walking and wogging with swimming.  Therefore, for the month of June, I will continue working-out whether it’s squats, swimming, weights or prenatal yoga.  The Juneathon is just the motivation and accountability I need to hang in there and not sulk give up.

What about you?  Will you join the Juneathon?  If my big ol’ bump can do it, then so can you!

To join the Juneathon, commit by adding a comment at JobBlog.  Be sure to include your blog name, blog link and Twitter ID.

Good luck!

It’s Crystal Clear

Crystal Bowersox has been my American Idol pick since the beginning.  This Indie Chick is simply superb.  Everything she sings sounds original and fresh.  With the assistance of a didgeridoo, Bowersox proved that she can out do The Beatles.

And her version of Give Me One Reason gave Tracey Chapman a reason to blush.

Last week, she kicked Kenny Loggin’s I’m Alright to a whole new level.  Although I have been never a fan of this song, Crystal’s performance converted me to enjoy this popular song from Caddyshack.

But my favorite Crystal Bowersox moment by far has been People Get Ready.

It’s crystal clear to me that Bowersox is the one to beat this season.

Move Over Venus and Serena

For about three months now, Allana and Emmalynn have been taking tennis lessons and they are throughly enjoying it.  They’re such naturals at the sport!

Coach Ty makes the class fun by playing games to teach techniques instead of boring drills. Plus, he is so patient with the kids.  The girls just love Coach Ty.

Unfortunately, temperatures and session prices are rising and I don’t think we I can handle either.  I need to stay as cool as possible this summer in more ways than one.  Typically, we have a pretty tight budget to survive the summer months, but with a new baby on the way, the purse strings will be pulled even tighter.

So maybe in the fall we’ll start lessons again.  But then there’s always soccer.  We’ll see.

Some Wine With My Whine, Please

Miserable
It’s the best word to describe my mood lately.  With constant lower back pain and a numbing sensation in my legs due to Run DMT Baby #3 sitting on my sciatica, it seems my wogging days are over when even walking hurts.  Incidentally, sciatica pain is also the excuse I use for my lack of housework.

An ice pack, swimming and prenatal exercises help alleviate some of the pain.  Besides those pain relievers, I know exactly what would make me feel so much better.  A big glass of red wine Self medicating would definitely put me in a better mood, but I’m at least ten weeks away from sipping a Syrah.  *sigh*

For this pregnancy, I’m carrying as low as I did with my first and almost as large too.  According to my friends and family, I’m “all belly” which is so bizarre as I carried all around huge for my other two pregnancies.  But like my mom will tell you, that old Italian wives’ tale is true.  Girls steal your looks.

Strangers have the funniest reaction when they see the size of my belly.  They’ll ask when I’m due which is usually followed up by an “Oh” paired with painful look of sympathy.  Not exactly the pairing I’m longing for these days.

So, according to close reliable sources (my sister and my husband), I look beautiful with my big baby bump and thin face radiating a healthy pregnancy glow, but I can’t help but think of an old SNL sketch with Billy Crystal as Fernando Lamas.  It is much better to look good than to feel good.

However, I can only agree with that statement while lying on my side with an ice pack…dreaming of chilled Chardonnay.
