In August 2008, I celebrated reaching 1000 hits with a Hal Higdon giveaway. Since Hal Higdon’s MARATHON–The Ultimate Training Guide: The Third Edition was my very first giveaway, I decided to offer another autographed copy.
Over the past couple of years, I’ve followed Hal’s plans meticulously. He’s seen me through six 5Ks, three 10Ks, two marathons, two half-marathons, which all can be viewed here. Hal has helped me tremendously and now he can help a Run DMT reader, too.
First, I have to explain how I came about receiving this autographed copy. After searching halhigdon.com for his contact information, I decided to search the internet for how to contact Hal and Google revealed Hal’s Facebook account. (Yes, Hal Higdon is on Facebook.) For a brief moment, I wondered if I should add Hal as a friend, but I feared I would appear as though I was stalking him. Besides did I really want Hal to know all of my status updates? Denise is drinking heavily after a long day with the kids.
After choosing to not add Hal as a friend, I decided to send him an e-mail requesting him to sponsor a giveaway for my blog and he graciously did! (How cool is that?! See why Hal is my hero?) So, here it is: an autographed copy of MARATHON–The Ultimate Training Guide: The Third Edition! To enter to win this book, simply add a comment below. Contest ends Tuesday, August 4. Good luck!

The giveaway is a great idea and Higdon’s program is the perfect prize. I’m training for my first ever marathon in December and am following one of the programs on his website. Congrats on your blogoversary!
DMT Your an inspiration! I hope to one day wear bike shorts again, just like you =) And to get a medal but I cant even seem to arrive for appointments with my trainers; how do you do it?
Great giveaway. There are so many I’m bound to win something! 😉
It would be great to read that so when this baby pops out I will be ready to run!!!!
hahaha “denise is drinking heavily…” you are crazy.
this is another great giveaway! hal gave me my introduction to marathoning – i (roughly) used his plans in my first 2-3 marathons as i did not know how much mileage i needed to be doing. he’s an excellent resource for runners of all levels!
OMG! I would LOVE this book! I have used Hal’s programs to run: 7 1/2 marathons, 3 full marathons, a 30K race, and a 15K race. I’m totally trying to get back into running again after a 5 yr hiatus to start a family.
I’m following you – I’m @momontherun
I tweeted about your contest.
Pick me! Pick me!
Tiffany first told me about the famous Hal Higdon. His training plans encouraged me to go further by the run/walk plans. I always thought you could only run a race. He gave me the option of stopping and walking through the water stops. My shins would like to thank Hal for the short breaks.
Hmmm– if I win this I could give it to Tommy for his b-day.
I contacted one of my daughter’s favorite authors to get an autographed book for Teacher Appreciation day at school with much success. Glad you were lucky too! Consider this my entry #1 🙂
i tweeted.
and i follow you on twitter 🙂

Great idea! Have been running for a couple of years now and while I’m recovering from a wee knee injury, I love Hal’s plans and certainly hope to win, win!!
