Back in October, I decided to follow a healthy path heading into the holidays. Given all the temptations from Halloween to New Year, I wanted to get a control over my compulsive eating and drinking habits. With some advice and a gentle nudge from my personal training coach, I registered for Fat Loss Foodies Cooking School to learn how to fuel my body based on my own needs.
I quickly learned that I had been going about it all wrong for years. See, there is a lot of BAD information out there, which regretfully I regertated here. I, like so many of you, have been caught in a vicious cycle of working out intensely, restricting calories and trying to avoid certain foods which in the end became my own downfall followed by guilt. See, the dieting industry wants you to feel like a failure so you sign up for another program.
Now, if you found a system that works for you and you have been able to maintain your goal weight. GREAT! I had to learn the hard way that all my attempts to lose weight were in vain because my metabolism had been slowed to a halt due to everything I tried regarding dieting.
But when I began my FLF CS journey, my metabolism got a reboot by simply refeeding myself properly with REAL FOOD.
No shakes.
No protein bars.
No meal replacements.
No packaged foods.
No magic pill.
And most importantly, no starving myself.
I saw results from eating REAL FOOD.
Based on the way I burn energy, I learned the right way to eat for my body’s needs. See, everyone is different. So, why follow a program that forces you to follow a one-size-fits-all meal plan?
I’ll share with you my Fat Loss Foodies journey and progress over the past three months in another post, but for now, I will tell you that I learned that I need to eat more fiber and less starchy bites to lose weight. That doesn’t mean giving carbs up completely. It simply means I can enjoy a few bites of my favorite carbs to fuel my body and efficiently burn fat. Those starchy, full of fiber bites including one of my favorite foods: Envy Apples.
Through the Fat Loss Foodies Cooking School, I learned how to rethink my meals and how to prepare the right combination of foods to feel full. During those four weeks, I played around with lots of fun recipes, including my Envy Apples with Chicken Apple Sausage and Cabbage.
This Envy Apples with Chicken Apple Sausage and Cabbage serves a pile of protein and fiber and the right amount of starchy bites (carbs) in the shape of the apples. Not only is it super quick to throw together, this one-pot dish is delicious and oh so filling! I loved the combination of fall flavors so much that I even enjoyed it for breakfast!
