Joggermom Marathon 2012

As a mom on the run, I understand the difficulties of training for races while raising a family.   Mother runners struggle with balancing sleepless nights, sick children, crazy schedules, carpools, after school activities and homework with our training.  It’s not easy.

Thankfully, Joggermom has made training and racing while raising a family easy with her Joggermom Marathon, but don’t let the word “marathon” scare you.  With Joggermom’s virtual marathon, you simply run a total 26.2 miles during the month of May.  In other words…

“You have from May 1st thru May 31st to complete 26.2 miles. That means you have 31 days to run 26.2 miles. That is a little more than 6 miles a week, a very attainable goal for even a couch potato. This marathon is not about who comes in first, it is about completing something you set out to do for yourself.” – Joggermom

 

Think you can do it?  Like Joggermom said, it’s totally attainable.  I participated last year and I’m joining Joggermom Marathon again this year.  Now, I want to share this fun, totally attainable marathon with you.

To enter this Joggermom Marathon entry fee giveaway, leave a comment below and tell us how you plan to reach 26.2 miles in 31 days.  Giveaway ends midnight on 5/14.  One winner will be selected at random with the help of random.org and announced on 5/15.

Even if you don’t win, please sign up as 10% of each entry will go to the American Heart Association.  Registration will remain open until May 15 at midnight.

There a few “rules”, like keeping track of your mileage in a spreadsheet and submitting photos as proof of your efforts, but it’s so worth it when you see the fabulous prizes you can win.  Not to mention, there’s that sense of accomplishment you’ll feel when you finish.  Then, you can wear that pride along with the Joggermom Marathon finishers bib to make it official!

How fun is that?!

Friday evening, my aunt passed away.  Since she deserves more than simply a footnote in a blog post, I will give her a proper memorial in another post, however I wanted recognize her passing in song with one of my favorite songs.  She slipped away surrounded by loved ones and only one song seems fitting to celebrate her life.

For the past 30 days, my girls and I have been giving many gifts, but our 30 Gifts in 30 Days challenge draws to an end just as the season of giving begins.  Therefore, I thought I would offer one more gift to celebrate the end of our successful challenge and the start of the gift giving season.

 

The Fuchsia Beach Crocs I received as part of my Women’s Half Marathon goodie bag are too small.  When I registered for the race, I ordered the wrong size (small W6-7/M4-5), but my mistake is another’s gain or what I prefer to call “My Small Feat for Small Feet Giveaway”.

Giveaway: Fall in Love with Crocs This Fall

This family is full of Crocs.   

 

We own several pairs for the simple fact that Crocs are extremely comfortable and very suitable footwear for active families like us.  

 

Living in Florida, flip flops are not just a trend, but a lifestyle.  Floridians wear flip flops almost all year long and I have walked many happy miles in my Capri Crocs.  If I’m not wearing running shoes, then you can guarantee I’m wearing my Crocs.  Because these shoes are so unbelievably comfortable, they have ruined me for any other flip flops.  No other will do.  Most other flip-flops feel like cardboard after living in my cushy Crocs.

 

Since I love my Crocs so much I decided to splurge and treat myself to a pair of Cayman Clog Crocs.  These shoes quickly became another favorite since they offer all the same cushy support of my flip flops.  But, I discovered the real benefit of these shoes at our last camping trip.  When crawling out of the tent in the middle of the night for a quick potty break, I slipped on these shoes while slipping off to the loo.  Like my feet, my kidneys and bladder became big Crocs fans that night, too!

 

When searching for a comfortable heel for a NYC trip with my husband, I stumbled upon the Cyprus Crocs at a local mall kiosk.  I loved the chic look of the shoe and of course, it had all the Crocs comfort that I have grown to love.

 

For SAHMs, heels are just not practical for playdates, but on occasion, we like to dress up and I found the Cyprus Crocs heels to be great shoes for hip moms on the go.  Just like their Crocs predecessors, you can walk for days in these shoes all the while forgetting you are wearing heels.

 

Incidentally, I also packed a pair of black Nadia Boots for that same NYC trip.  The weather called for rain and cooler weather.  I wanted a shoe that would keep my feet dry without wearing goulashes or a snow boot.  The Nadia Crocs were a perfect choice for pounding the pavement all over the city.

 

As for my kids, they love their fushia and purple Mickey Mouse Cayman Crocs.  They are loved and worn so much that all that love is evident all over the shoes.  When the dirt and grime becomes too much, I throw them in the wash and leave them to air dry.  In a about an hour, they look as good as new!

 

 

My DH is also a huge fan of Crocs.  He lives in his Crete Crocs Flip Flops but he has his eye on a pair of Tideline Leather Slip-Ons.
